POSITION:

Plumbing Journeyman

SUMMARY: Commercial construction skills and work as listed but not limited to: Underground plumbing, above ground plumbing, fixture setting and plumbing trim work in commercial buildings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Read drawings and specifications, take measurements, lay out, fabricate, and install piping efficiently.
• Cut, fabricate, and install piping system hangers
• Excavate, rough in, and backfill underground plumbing systems
• Install cast iron, copper, stainless steel, carbon steel, PVC, CPVC, and PEX in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and applicable codes.
• Set plumbing and medical gas system equipment to maintain proper service clearances
• Set plumbing fixtures and accessories
• Leak test piping systems, equipment, and fixtures
• Install valve tags, pipe labels, and equipment identification tags
• Disinfect and flush complete piping systems
• Take off/ plan material and tool needs in advance.
• Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• Four or more years of experience specific to the commercial plumbing industry
• Licensed
• Must provide all relevant hand tools
• Ability to operate the following:
  • Trade specific tools – propress gun, roll grooving machine, pipe threader
  • Excavation and backfill equipment – backhoe, compactor, skid steer
  • Material handling equipment – forklift, pallet jack
  • Specialty tools – acetylene torch, cast iron cutter, hammer drill
• Ability to read and interpret:
  • Blueprints
  • Detail sheets
  • Sketches
  • Schematics
• Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people
  • Always conduct themselves in a professional manner
  • Abide by Spectrum Mechanical & Plumbing guidelines as set forth in the Company Handbook
  • Ability to promote and follow building, job site and department procedures and policies
  • Ability to understand technical instructions
• Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
  • Perform work within OSHA guidelines
• Ability to work overtime when needed.
